Wrestling has evolved over the years to an entertainment and as well sports. It has accumulated lots of wrestlers right from its inception till present and most of these wrestlers have bragging rights and spectacular records to their names. How can we determine who is the best? How do we know who tops the rest? Even if we do, what are the qualities, yardstick or factors of evaluation we use to determine this ranking?

FACTORS/QUALITIES USED FOR EVALUATION

These are categorized into 2 different factions: The Personal qualities and the Individual achievements.

The Personal Qualities

These are different features of the Wrestler which all sum up in making him a "great". These qualities are of course what makes a Wrestler earn accolades and Belts hence they would be greatly analyzed. It is a point of note that sometimes a great wrestler with such qualities may not be lucky to always win tournaments or Titles and that is why putting this into consideration is of great importance.

1. The Individual Qualities

Muscular Strength: The strength of the Wrestler is very important. Using physical strength to dominate opponent is an important feature of a great Individual.

Muscular Endurance: Enduring much pain for a very long time (having great Stamina), being tough for a long period of time is a wonderful feature of a Wrestler. Individuals like Triple H, the Undertaker and even Edge have this quality which has also immensely help them win Titles.

Creativity: This is judged based on the number of Unique moves a Wrestler has. The more the moves Unique and peculiar to him, the greater his measure of creativity.

Killer Moves: There are specific Killer moves not every competitor can withstand. Such moves give a wrestler higher points in ranking. For Instance, there is a more than 93% chance an opponent will be pinned down by the Undertaker after the Thomb Stone when compared to the not up to 75% chance when done the 619 by Rey Mysterio.

Entertainment: How entertaining a Wrestler is also adds credibility of been a Legend. The Heart Break Kid, the Ultimate Warrior all have a good shot in this category.

Intimidating Force: The ability to intimidate Opponents, command respect from Opponents and instill fear in them is a Huge factor. And lastly,

Fan Favourite: Been Loved by the fans within and outside the Arena is also a huge Factor to become a world great. John Cena is a typical example and as well The Rock.

Each of these factors will have a maximum point of 100%. Leading to a cummulative point of 700, been attributed to Personal qualities. Now, let's look at the Individual achievements.

Individual Achievements

This feature will take a cummulative point of 300. It is partitioned into 3 major segments.

1a. The number of World Heavy Weight Titles Won. The World Heavy Weight Titles are always the most competitive and most prestigious, hence achievements on this front would be treated specially. These World Titles are only acknowledged on professional level, irrespective of the Wrestling brand or company, but in the USA. World Heavy weight Titles in the USWA, WCWA, WCW, WWF/E, ECW, TNA and NWA would all be recognized. And the maximum Points here is 50%. You want to know how the points are shared until a 50% is reached, read all of this and click on the link at the end of this article.

1b. The number of other titles Won on Professional Level. There are many more other titles in these different brands and companies of Wrestling already Mentioned in Point 1a. Some are World Titles, some are tournament Titles (King of the Ring, Triple Crown matches etc). The more the Wrestler rack up these titles, the more the points until the maximum is reached which is another 50%.

So in general, winning trophies (which is summed up by the number of World Heavyweight Titles and other Titles) will have a total score of 100%.

2. There are prestigious and very important professional tournaments and events in Professional wrestling which would not be overlooked and an individual who is to be considered as great suppose to register some achievements in these events. The first is the Royal Rumble Match. The ability to win the Royal Rumble Match will earn a Wrestler a very good score. But winning more entails having more scores and this will take a maximum of 50%. The second event is the Wrestlemania event. This is a very important event in the history of Wrestling and Legends have been made from this event also, hence ability to win matches (even if they are just mere single's matches) will earn the individual some points. More wins in this event entails more points. So, a total of another 50% will come from the Wrestlemania. Therefore, for these two tournaments, a sum total of another 100% is reached. If peradventure a great Wrestler does not wrestle for the WWF/E at all, then he stands to lose, because the greats wrestle in the WWF/E brands and if he is to be considered "Great" he then needs to Wrestle with other "greats". So for someone like Sting, whom has never worked for the WWF/E, he will have no points here.

3. The next and final yardstick is the Individual accolades. This will also be in two categories. First is the Personal accolades and awards earn by a wrestler from some notable "Para-Wrestling" Organizations and some good examples are: The Mirror, Slammy Awards, Pro Wrestling Illustrated and Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The more a wrestler rack up accolades the more he reaches the maximum point here which is at 80%. Then the next is the spectacular records category. During one's career, there are some records he could set (which may not even be about winning Titles). These records will not go unnoticed and would be counted to his credit. A good example is Rey Mysterio lasting longest in the Royal Rumble Match at 1:02:12. Another example is Edge winning all currently active tournaments in the Men's category. Such records would be brought out and accredited to the individual and a maximum point of 20% is attributed here. If you want to know how all these points are partitioned until their maximums are reached, click on the link below (which is just at the end of this article).

All said and done, everything sum up to 1000 points which can easily be converted to 100%. The Wrestler with the highest percentage points earns the top spot as the Best ever World Wrestler. Here is a list of the best 20, there are more but on this page, we will talk about the best 20.
